Rev. H. Clark Edwards
Rev. H. Clark Edwards is Lead Pastor here at First United Methodist Church Bradenton. He previously served at First United Methodist Church, Boyton Beach, FL
Pastor Edwards grew up on a tobacco farm in Lamont, Florida.  While growing up he attended the local United Methodist Church where he gave his life to Christ and the call of ministry.  The local Church was most “influential” in shaping who he is today!
He is a graduate of Jefferson County High School in Monticello , Florida where he was on the high school track team.  He graduated from Tallahassee Community College, Florida State University and Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
Pastor Edwards has also served the following churches: Miccosukee UMC, Crawfordville UMC, Wakulla Station UMC, Cherry Lake UMC, Greenville UMC, Curry Ford Road UMC and Trinity UMC in Orlando, First UMC in Brandon, First UMC in St. Petersburg, First UMC in Boyton Beach as well as Seminal Heights UMC and Wesley Memorial UMC in Tampa.
In addition to serving local churches in Florida, Pastor Edwards has served as Chair of the Florida Conference Mission Team where he represented the Florida Conference in visiting Cuba and Haiti. He has also served as Chair of the Florida Conference Episcopacy Committee and  on the Tampa District Board of Ordained Ministry. He was selected among 50 other Pastors to travel to Israel.
Pastor Edwards is married for 40 years to his wife Donna, who is a Nurse Consultant. They have three adult children, Bryan and his wife Jessica who live in Nashville, TN, their daughter Tracey who lives in Indianapolis, IN, and their son David and his wife Amy who live in St. Petersburg, FL.
Pastor Edwards is an avid sportsman who loves spending time outdoors fishing, hunting, target shooting and special times with his dogs Red and Rocky.   He loves Florida State Football and watching the Tampa Bay Rays.

Jim Culver

Jim lives in Safety Harbor, FL with his wife, Rebecca.  Their older children are married and teaching (Meghan), enjoying her newborn (Brandon), teaching at Harvard (Chelsea), owning his own painting company (Drew), starting life after college (Eric), and in first year of college (Rebecca). 

As an organist/conductor, Jim’s appearances include St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican, the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., and on ABC television’s Good Morning America. As a composer, Jim’s choral, vocal, handbell, piano, organ, and instrumental works have sold over 180,000 copies through 5 publishing houses.  

Jim enjoys humor, painting, yoga, golf, a vegan diet, and long walks.  His passion is to create loving community through music, enhancing our services and the lives of those who so faithfully volunteer their time and talents.

Cindy Thurmond

Cindy is a native of Bradenton and enjoys living here with her husband and her mother.  Her daughter, Lauren, is a teacher in Baltimore and her son, Huey, is working and attending school in Tampa.  She enjoys reading, cooking and walking.  Cindy loves working with the wonderful folks at FUMCB and hopes to have a positive impact on the world.
Becky McGowin
Preschool Director
Becky has attended FUMCB since she was a young girl and has enjoyed many of the programs that have been available including choir, handbells, bible study classes, youth group, and the Wednesday night dinners.  She has family both in town and scattered across the nation, but loves having her church family here to help her with prayer and fellowship.  Becky has been working in the field of Early Childhood Education at First For Kids since 2000 and strives to teach our young students about loving God who created us all. 
Angie Thompson
Administrative Assistant
Angie is from Lakeland and Sebring, Florida.  She has lived in Bradenton for four years.  Her husband, Rich and her have three boys; Matthew is married and he and Allison live and work in Tennessee. Sean, works and goes to school in Tampa and Spencer, works and goes to SCF in Bradenton.  
Angie enjoys teaching 3rd-5th grade Sunday School at Trinity United Methodist Church and spending weekends with her family.
